Weather Update: Monsoon depression reached Madhya Pradesh, weakened in low pressure area

weather update

Newz Fast, New Delhi: Earlier, the Monsoon Depression over Odisha and Chhattisgarh has moved north-westwards.

Centered about 80 km south-west of Raipur, the system was still marked as a drizzle in the morning. Since then the depression has weakened into a low pressure area over central parts of Madhya Pradesh.

It is very likely to move very slowly and very likely over parts of Madhya Pradesh, East Rajasthan and neighboring Uttar Pradesh for the next 48-72 hours. The system is not likely to move very far over Rajasthan and may take a recurring track towards north and northeast.

Under the influence of this system, heavy rainfall occurred over southern parts of Madhya Pradesh including Khargone, Khandwa, Pachmarhi and Chhindwara. The rain belt extended to parts of Vidarbha, Marathwada and Telangana.

More heavy rains are likely over Madhya Pradesh, East Rajasthan and South East and South Uttar Pradesh in the next 3 days. The national capital may receive rain around the middle of the week.

Later, the remnants of the system in the form of a cyclonic circulation will travel in a staggered manner over West Uttar Pradesh, central parts of the state and finally East Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.

The track of this system will draw the line of withdrawal of monsoon. Monsoon withdrawal is always retrospective. Another system is approaching over North Bay of Bengal around 18th September.

The remaining part of the existing system will be included in the fresh weather system. However, the track may not deepen till Rajasthan.
This pattern could determine the start of withdrawal from western Rajasthan anytime after 25 September. This also means that the return of monsoon this season in the national capital will be delayed.
