Preparation started six months in advance
Dhoni announced his retirement from international cricket two years ago in August 2020. Despite this, he is still one of the most famous cricketers in the world. Dhoni last played in the Indian Premier (IPL) League earlier this year.
It is expected that he will lead Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the next season of IPL next year in 2023. However, there is still six months left for the tournament to start.
Spotted practicing in Ranchi
A video of 41-year-old Dhoni is viral on social media. In this, he is seen practicing net in Ranchi. During this 18-second video, Dhoni can be seen batting in the nets wearing a helmet and pads.
Dhoni played 14 matches in the last season of the Indian Premier League and scored a total of 232 runs with an average of 33.14. He remained unbeaten on six occasions and also scored a half-century.
Under Dhoni's captaincy, India won the 2007 T20 World Cup, the 50-over World Cup in 2011 and the 2013 Champions Trophy.

He is the only captain to have won three ICC trophies. Under Dhoni's leadership, India also reached the final of the T20 World Cup in 2014.
IPL in old format
The BCCI recently said that the next season of IPL will be played in the old format. It will again be conducted in the format of Home and Away.
Last year IPL league matches were played at four venues in Mumbai and Pune, while the knockout matches were held in Kolkata and Ahmedabad.
Gujarat Titans won their first title by defeating Rajasthan Royals in the final match of IPL-2022 played at Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad.
