The government runs many schemes in the interest of the common people. The Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved the Pradhan Mantri Schools for Rising India scheme to develop and upgrade 14,597 schools as honor schools across the country.

27,360 crore will be spent on this scheme. This proposal has been approved in the meeting of the Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Which schools will be involved

18 lakh students will benefit
The Union Education Minister informed that the PM-Shri School Scheme will be implemented over a period of five years from 2022-2027. 27,360 crore will be spent on this, in which the Center's share will be Rs 18,128 crore. This will benefit 18 lakh students.

Will have to go to school without a bag for 10 days
Pradhan said that these schools will be technology driven and business studies and entrepreneurship will be an important part of these schools. These schools will also have 3D labs and the experiment of coming to school without bags for 10 days will also start.

Every school will get Rs 2 crore
Pradhan informed that Vidya Samiksha Kendra will be started in PM-Shri schools on pilot project basis. For this a portal will be created on which the details of the performance of every student of every school will be there.

For this, two crore rupees will be given to every school in five years. He said that for the first time, funds will be given directly from the center to the schools, which can be up to 40 percent. Appropriate arrangements will also be made for its monitoring.

Will work as model schools
According to the government statement, it will incorporate all the components and features of the National Education Policy 2020 and will work as model schools.
Under this, schools will have to apply themselves on the online portal. During the first two years of the scheme, the portal will be opened four times in a year i.e. once in every quarter.

All basic facilities will be available
For this, the state government can also enroll for schools, the statement said. 60 parameters have been set for the selection of schools, which include pucca building, drinking water facility, separate toilets for boys and girls, playground, facilities for disabled children etc.

Emphasis will be on increasing employment
Let us tell you that these schools will provide leadership to other schools in their respective fields by providing guidance. The sector will be linked with skill councils and local industries to increase employability.

It will include eco-friendly aspects like solar panels and LED lights, nutrition garden with natural farming, waste management, plastic free premises, water conservation and harvesting, traditions related to protection of environment.

PM Modi had announced
According to the statement, the special thing is that all these schools will be government, which will be selected in collaboration with the states. Under this scheme, the government wants to develop two model schools in each block.

Giving information about this on the occasion of Teachers' Day on September 5, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that on Teachers' Day, I am announcing a new initiative.

Under the Pradhan Mantri Schools for Rising India (PM-Shri), 14,500 schools across the country will be developed and upgraded. All these will become model schools and will contain the full spirit of the National Education Policy.

The Prime Minister had said that the National Policy on Education has brought about massive changes in the education sector. He expressed hope that 'PM-Shri' schools will benefit lakhs of students across the country.

According to the statement, a maximum of two schools per block/ULB will be selected with an upper limit on the total number of schools across India. Geo-tagging of schools will be done for selection and monitoring of PM Shri Schools.
