Litchi Cultivation 2022-23: Farmers should cultivate litchi with this scientific method, will get big profits with increase in yield

litchi cultivation

Newz Fast, New Delhi: Due to the delicious and attractive color of litchi fruits, there is a huge demand for it in the country and abroad. Punjab, UP, Bihar and Jharkhand October and November season are considered most suitable for its cultivation.

According to agricultural experts, if farmers adopt scientific methods for cultivating litchi, then the chances of getting more profits increase.

For commercial cultivation of litchi, scientists consider the gooty method to be the best. In this method, cuttings are selected from an adult litchi tree and planted without direct seeding.

Deep loamy loamy soil with normal Ph is very suitable for the cultivation of litchi. Cultivation of litchi in high water absorbing soil or laterite soil leads to good plant growth and good fruit production.

Waterlogging in the field adversely affects the production of litchi. Farmers should make kiari with good drainage for litchi cultivation. Due to this, farmers will get good yield in fruits.

Land preparation for litchi crop

Gulabari, Swarna Rupa, Shahi and Dehradun, Calcutta and China are considered to be improved varieties of litchi. Before planting the seeds of litchi, farmers should plow their field two to three times diagonally and then level the field by leveling it.

Now make flowers in the field in such a way that water does not accumulate in it at the time of irrigation. Choose plants at least two years old for sowing litchi. Keep the distance of Kiriyas 8-10 meters. Sowing of litchi is done by directly planting seeds and planting seedlings.

Scientists consider the gooty method to be the best for litchi cultivation

To prepare gooty, select healthy and straight branches from a 5-7 year old litchi tree. Now 40-45 cm below the top of the branch, make a round 2.5-3 cm wide ring near a knot.

Applying a paste of IBA 2000 ppm paste or Rutex on the upper end of the rings, cover the rings with moist moss grass and wrap a piece of transparent polythene on top and tie it tightly with twine.

The roots are fully developed within about 2 months of tying the gooty. At this time, about half the leaves of the branch are removed and cut from the main plant and planted in a partially shady place in the nursery.

Fertilizer and irrigation important for good progress

At the time of growth of small litchi plants, give regular irrigation at an interval of one week. After planting seeds, apply 5-10 kg gully, rotted rotted manure with urea 25-50 g, single super phosphate 50-100 g and muriate of potash 10-30 g per plant for germination. Pruning is necessary to give the plants a good shape in the early stages.

Big profits from inter crops

It is a slow growing crop and takes 7-10 years to grow. Intercrops like peaches, potato bukhara, pulses or vegetable crops can be easily grown in litchi field for the first 3-4 years of plant growth.

Take care of germination like this

More care is needed at the time of seed germination. Fruit borer larva, louse and sundew can choke off seed germination.

To avoid these, keep spraying in the field at the time of litchi germination by mixing Dicofol 17.8 EC 3 mg or Propergit 57 EC 2.5 mg per liter of water.
