This is how you will get lower berth

Actually, a passenger traveling by Indian Railways asked this question to the Railways on Twitter that why is this so, it should be corrected.

The passenger tagged Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav and wrote that what is the logic of running the seat allotment, I had booked tickets for three senior citizens with lower berth preference

At that time 102 berths were available, despite this they were given middle berth, upper berth and side lower berth. You should repair it.

What was the reply of IRCTC?
RCTC has responded to this question on Twitter. IRCTC replied that- Sir, the lower berths / senior citizen quota berths are only 60 years and above, lower berths earmarked for female age of 45 years and above

When he travels alone or with two passengers (under the norms of traveling on a single ticket). IRCTC further said that if there are more than two senior citizens or one is a senior citizen and the other is not a senior citizen, the system will not consider it.

Senior citizens' concessions suspended

Let us tell you that in the year 2020, in view of the coronavirus pandemic, the concessional tickets of several categories of people including senior citizens were suspended to reduce non-essential travel.

Railways also said that concessions for senior citizens have been withdrawn as the risk of spread and mortality due to the COVID-19 virus is highest in that category.
