The Income Tax Department has once again tweeted to link PAN card with Aadhaar. It states that according to the Income Tax Act 1961, it is mandatory for all PAN card holders who do not fall in the exempted category to link their PAN numbers with Aadhaar by March 31, 2023.

Why is Aadhaar being linked with PAN?

PAN Card is used to keep records of financial transactions. With this number, the government keeps information about the income tax of the people. The record of financial transactions is kept by the Income Tax Department, which is completely under the electronic system.

The information of any person or company of the country is recorded with the same PAN number. In such a situation, according to the government rules, one can issue only one PAN card, but in earlier times, if someone used to get two or more PAN cards made, then he could not be caught easily.

But after linking with Aadhaar card, this work cannot be done now. In such a situation, if someone keeps two PAN cards, then it will automatically be deactivated. Anyway, having two PAN numbers is illegal.

How to link PAN card with Aadhaar?

If you want to link PAN card with Aadhaar at home, then first you have to go to the e-filing website of Income Tax. Here a form will open, in which you will have to enter your PAN card and Aadhaar number.

After that information will have to be entered according to the data of Aadhaar card. Like own name, date of birth. If only the date of birth is written on your Aadhaar card, then you should put a right mark on the box there.

After this enter the captcha code to verify. Now you will see "Link Aadhaar" written. Click there. In this way Aadhaar and PAN card can be linked.
