Newz Fast, New Delhi: If you are looking to buy a Hyundai car or you already have a Hyundai car then there is bad news for you. Let us tell you that the company has decided to discontinue the diesel engine of its popular hatchback Hyundai i20.

The company has taken this decision due to the emission regulations that will come into effect from January 1, 2023. The new rule has been named Real Driving Emission (RDE).

Due to this rule, many cars or their variants may have to be discontinued, one of which is the Hyundai i20 diesel.

According to the report of Autocar India, the diesel engine of this car will not be sold after March 31, 2023. That is, if you have to take a diesel engine model of this vehicle, then you do not have much time left.

Apart from diesel, Hyundai's premium hatchback i20 also comes with two petrol engines. In the total sales of this vehicle, 10 percent of the sales were from the diesel model. However, the graph of sales of diesel variants is continuously falling. The sales figure for petrol-diesel models in 2015 was 50:50.

Engine and Mileage

Let us tell you that currently the Hyundai i20 comes in three engine options. It gets 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine (83PS and 114Nm), 1-litre turbo-petrol engine (120PS and 172Nm) and 1.5-litre diesel engine (100PS and 240Nm).

The diesel engine generates 98.63bph of power. Only manual gearbox option is available in this. The company claims that the mileage of the diesel variant is 25kmpl.

For safety, this vehicle has features like ABS with 2 airbags, central locking, power door lock, child safety lock, anti theft alarm, seat belt warning, tire pressure monitor.
