The Gujarat government has cut VAT on CNG and PNG by 10 percent before Diwali. Apart from this, the government has announced to provide two cylinders free of cost every year to 38 lakh beneficiaries of the Ujjwala scheme.

The burden of Rs 1,650 crore will come on the government

The reduction in VAT on natural gas (PNG) that reaches homes through CNG pipes and two free LPG cylinders every year to the beneficiaries of the central government's Ujjwala scheme will cost the state government Rs 1,650 crore.

This announcement has been made by the state government at a time when the assembly elections are to be held in Gujarat.

VAT reduced from 15 to 5 percent

Gujarat minister Jitu Vaghani said, “The government has reduced VAT on CNG and PNG by 10 percent. This will help housewife women, auto rickshaw drivers and those who use CNG vehicles.

Let us tell you that in Gujarat, VAT on CNG and PNG used in kitchen was 15 percent. After this change, now VAT has come down to 5 percent.

He said that this will reduce the prices of CNG by Rs 6 per kg and PNG rates by Rs 5 per cubic metre. Due to this, a big difference will be seen in the bills of the people in the coming time.
