Newz Fast, New Delhi: Smugglers are adopting new methods of smuggling after increasing the strictness of police, NCB and security forces on drug smuggling. Today a new game of drug smuggling in Assam was exposed.

Here heroin worth crores was being brought by hiding in soap boxes in the secret basement built in the driver's cabin in the truck. Which was seized by BSF and police personnel in joint action.

According to the information received, heroin worth more than Rs 47 crore was seized from a truck by a joint team of BSF and Assam Police in Karimganj district of Assam on Tuesday.

A police officer gave this information. He said the heroin was seized from a truck near New Karimganj railway station in the early hours of Tuesday when it was on its way from Mizoram to Tripura via Karimganj.

Drugs were filled in 764 soap boxes

The police officer said that based on specific information, BSF and Karimganj police personnel stopped the truck. The truck was thoroughly searched.

During the search, heroin packed in 764 soap bags was seized from the driver's cabin of the truck. It was told that the seized heroin weighs around 9.47 kg and its estimated value is Rs 47.4 crore.

Truck driver arrested, inquiry continues

A police officer said that the driver of the truck has been arrested. He is being questioned for the disclosure of the entire syndicate. The driver was aware of the manner in which drugs were smuggled.

In such a situation, it is feared that he may have already transported many consignments of drugs from here to there. At present, the disclosure of this drug smuggling gang is awaited. The police can start a raiding operation after interrogation.
