Newz Fast, New Delhi: Former all-rounder Roger Binny has taken over as the new chairman of the Board of Control for Cricket in India. Roger Binny has replaced former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly.

Preparations are on to make major changes in an important committee of BCI. However, it will have to wait for the T20 World Cup to end.

Due to this, the chair of former cricketer Chetan Sharma is in danger. Chetan is currently handling the responsibility as the chairman of the senior selection committee of BCCI.

Changes will happen after T20 World Cup

National selection committee chairman Chetan Sharma's fate hangs in the balance. The Cricket Board of India (BCCI) may soon reshuffle this committee after the T20 World Cup hosted by Australia.

There has been no consistency in the performance of Chetan Sharma and his panel in the recent past in terms of team selection.

Happy with Chetan but...

A BCCI official said on the condition of anonymity, “A lot will depend on how India performs in the T20 World Cup.

Most of the people on the board are very happy with Chetan, but he will be there till BCCI selects a new Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC).

Mohanty will also have to leave the post

Chetan will have to wait a little longer to know about his future but East Zone representative Debashish Mohanty will have to step down in a few months as he completes a total of four years in the junior and senior selection committees.

This official said on the condition of confidentiality, 'The rule applicable with Abhay Kuruvilla will also apply to Mohanty.

Debu (Mohanti) was inducted into the junior panel by the CoA in early 2019 and came to the senior committee when Devang Gandhi's term was over.' (Input: PTI)
